Care
Linen softens every time you wash it. Treat it plainly and it will outlast you.
Wash
Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. No bleach, no fabric softener — softener coats the fiber and stops it breathing.
Dry
Line dry in shade. A hot dryer sets creases into the fiber that will not come out, and shrinks the weave.
Iron
Warm iron while the cloth is still slightly damp. Or leave it. Both are correct.
Store
Fold it. Linen left on a hanger stretches at the shoulder over a season.
On creasing
Linen creases. That is the fiber, not a fault in the making, and no finish removes it without coating the cloth in something that stops it breathing. The creases fall as you wear it and set into the shape of the person wearing it. This is the reason to buy linen, not a cost of it.
